The Problem
The Supervisors Toolkit had lived on an outdated platform for over five years without meaningful updates. Disorganized and hard to navigate, supervisors relied on HR and operations teams for support rather than finding answers themselves, creating unnecessary load on both sides.
Leadership initially requested a simple port to a new WordPress platform. My manager and I saw an opportunity for a comprehensive improvement, presenting directly to the UW-IT CIO and securing sign-off to build a one-stop Supervisors Hub as a growable foundation for all supervisory needs.
The Solution
Work was split into two phases. Phase 1 rebuilt the core hub as a reliable self-service resource. Phase 2 introduced a community connection for shared resources and support across experience levels.
Research included 120 survey responses, 20 manager interviews, two years of page analytics, and affinity mapping to synthesize findings. Analytics surfaced core workflow priorities, informing both IA decisions and content depth. Each retained page was rewritten, restructured for scannability, and optimized with custom SEO snippets. The final IA and every page revision were reviewed and approved by HR leadership.
Outcome: 50% content reduction, a fully written and restructured hub approved by HR leadership, and a foundation for future community features.
